Scavenger Hunt Clues for Adults
For a couple, a dinner party or a family gathering where nobody wants to read rhymes aloud. The adult clues lean on wordplay and a dry sense of humor.
What adult clues look like
They are still clues: each one describes a place in your home. They just do it with a wink.
- Freezer
Where good intentions go to freeze: the "I'll cook that someday" drawer. Look there.
- Sofa cushions
The one place to find a coin, a pen, a pistachio shell and possibly a clue. Dig between the seats.
- Bookshelf
Judge a book by its cover, find a clue by its spine. Check the shelf where good intentions are alphabetized.
- Stairs
Fourteen steps to a better night's sleep. The next clue is on the staircase.
Ideas for an adult hunt
Use it for a gift for a partner, with the last clue pointing to a wrapped present. Use it for a Christmas Eve game after dinner, with a bottle of something good at the end. Or use it as the opening act of a party: a short chain of five or six clues keeps a room of adults moving without turning into a marathon.
The adult set is part of the paid plans. The free plan covers up to 5 clues for little kids and kids 7 to 12. The Full Hunt ($2.99, one time) lifts the limit and unlocks teens, adults and the office edition; the Family Pack ($4.99) adds a separate chain for each child. See pricing.
Questions
How many clues should an adult hunt have?
Five to eight works well. Adults solve riddles fast, so a long chain can drag.
Can I add a private joke?
Yes, with the Full Hunt you can add your own spot with your own clue text, such as “Sit where the dog is not allowed.”
Where do I hide each card?
The host answer key page tells you, card by card: “Hide card #3 in the fridge.” The cards themselves never say where they go, so players cannot peek at the answer.
Can I make the same hunt again?
Yes. Every hunt has a short hunt code. Type the same code with the same spots, age group and number of clues and you get the same chain and the same clue wording back. Press Shuffle for a new one.
