Christmas Treasure Hunt Clues
A treasure hunt is a scavenger hunt with a prize at the end. Choose where the treasure is, tick the stops and print clue cards that lead the way.
Treasure ideas
The treasure can be small: a bag of chocolate coins in a stocking, a new board game under the tree, tickets for a day out. What makes it a hunt is the trail, so let the stops be rooms and objects your children know well.
- Stockings
Hung with care and stuffed with cheer, stockings wait for Christmas here. Reach inside and feel around; the next clue's in there to be found.
- Window sill
Peek outside and what do you see? Snowflakes falling quietly. The next clue's on the window sill; it waits for you so calm and still.
- Front door mat
Wipe your boots and wipe your shoes, snowy mat for muddy news. Lift it up and take a look; the next clue's hiding, by hook or crook.
Treasure hunt versus scavenger hunt
A scavenger hunt often asks players to collect things. A treasure hunt follows a trail of clues to one prize. This tool builds the trail kind: each card points to the next hiding spot, and the final card points to the treasure.
You can build the trail on the free plan. The free plan covers up to 5 clues for little kids and kids 7 to 12. The Full Hunt ($2.99, one time) lifts the limit and unlocks teens, adults and the office edition; the Family Pack ($4.99) adds a separate chain for each child. See pricing.
Questions
How long does a treasure hunt take?
Five clues usually take ten to fifteen minutes with children. Add more clues, or hide cards in spots that are farther apart, to make it longer.
Where do I hide each card?
The host answer key page tells you, card by card: “Hide card #3 in the fridge.” The cards themselves never say where they go, so players cannot peek at the answer.
Can I make the same hunt again?
Yes. Every hunt has a short hunt code. Type the same code with the same spots, age group and number of clues and you get the same chain and the same clue wording back. Press Shuffle for a new one.
Is the clue generator free?
Yes. A hunt of up to 5 clues with the little-kids and kids 7 to 12 libraries is free, as a PDF or straight from the print button. Free pages carry one small line at the bottom saying where they were made. The Full Hunt ($2.99, one-time) removes the limit and adds the other age groups.
